Ionic Columns

If you are thinking about a way to improve your home or other building, an Ionic Column may be exactly what you need. Architectural supports are one of the best ways to update a home. An Ionic column will add a special look to your house with its simple yet beautiful design.

Classic Ionic Pillars were inspired by the beauty of a woman when the Greeks were looking to design a temple for Athena. It was made with a slender shaft, with details only on the capital. An Ionic column consists of a base, a slim shaft that can be plain or fluted, and the capital. The capital is detailed, although not as detailed as the Corinthian Column. The Ionic column is distinguishable by its volutes, which look like scrolls, hanging off the shaft. These were motivated by the curly hair of the goddess. It is further decorated by cymatia and fruit around the volutes, which to the Greek was substituting hair. If you are interested in Ionic Columns, you can see them on such famous buildings as the Jefferson Memorial, The United States Department of Treasury, and the Erechtheum in Greece.
Perfect for the home

These structural or decorative pillars are a great addition to any part of the home. They can be made out of several materials such as fiberglass or wood. They are an architectural element that not only looks amazing, but also adds lifelong strength to your home. Ionic columns can also be made in any size for a variety of projects. Decorative pillars or stain-grade columns work great in the interior of the home by acting as a room divider, concealing an unsightly pole, or adding elegance to a fireplace mantel. They can be used outside the home as dividers in a balustrade or as support for a second story porch. The possibilities with Ionic columns are endless – consider incorporating their beauty into your home.
